Requirements:

1.DSL enabled telephone line from Telkom
2.Modem/Router
3.ADSL Splitter/Filter

If you have a prepaid phone line you need to change it to a line with billed exchange – You will then have an account with Telkom.DSL only works on a line with a billed exchange.I waited 10 days for my line to be DSL enabled.Go to Telkom’s site to place your order online or you can download the order form.Fax your order form to 0800203736.It takes about 2days for Telkom’s consultant to call you back regarding the installation of your DSL application.Remember to choose the self-install option.
You will then get another call from the consultant regarding your DSL enabled phone line.Very important:ASK THE CONSULTANT FOR YOUR ORDER NUMBER because you need that number plus your telehone number to verify your DSL enabled phone line on Telkom’s website.Only if you don’t have a telephone line you will then have to wait 4-6weeks for the line to be installed (depending on Telkom’s workload).Very important – you must verify your DSL otherwise you will not be able to surf on the internet even if you have your own ISP.Very important – set up your modem router and make sure that the modem’s lights are on before you verify your line on Telkom’s website.Type your telephone no in first starting with the area code and then the telephone number. Now type your service number (my order number consisted of seven digits followed by a minus (-) sign and then two extra digits). You will then click on VERIFY. If your verification is successful, you will notice a green sign and message stating the speed of your line.Wait now for about 30minutes before surfing the internet.
